Born: 7 January 1922, Draper, Salt Lake, Utah, United States Died: 11 May 1945, Okinawa-ken, Japan Served In: World War II Branch of Service: Navy Rank: Yeoman 1st Class Service Notes: He was serving aboard a U.S. Navy ship during the fierce Battle of Okinawa when a Japanese kamikaze pilot deliberately dove his aircraft into the vessel. The tremendous impact caused a violent explosion, and he was killed by the concussion of the initial blast. He was buried at sea in the waters off Okinawa, far from his home and family.He was 23 years old.
