Service Notes: He fought during the Ardennes campaign, better known as the Battle of the Bulge, when German forces launched a massive surprise offensive against Allied troops in the winter of 1944. The fighting spread across the heavily forested Ardennes region of Belgium, Luxembourg, and northeastern France, where American soldiers endured bitter cold, snow, and fierce German attacks. During this desperate winter campaign, he was killed in action in France. He was only 28 years old.
