Service Notes: He was a pilot who survived 25 combat missions during World War II without being injured, a remarkable accomplishment considering the dangers faced by aircrews. After surviving the hazards of combat, he continued serving his country as a test pilot, a role that carried dangers of its own. Tragically, his life was cut short when the aircraft he was testing crashed near Ogden, Utah. He was only 27 years old.
