Service Notes: He served as the co-pilot aboard a B-24 Liberator named “Devils Delight,” flying dangerous bombing missions during World War II. During a mission over Porto San Stefano, Italy, the bomber was struck by German anti-aircraft cannon fire. Despite the damage, the crew attempted to bring their crippled aircraft back, but as they approached Naples, the plane caught fire, exploded, and crashed. Tragically, the entire crew was killed in action. He was only 24 years old
