Service Notes: He served as the pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress, leading his crew on dangerous bombing missions over enemy occupied Europe. During a mission over Norway, his bomber was struck and badly damaged by heavy anti-aircraft fire. The crippled aircraft was seen dropping out of formation as seven members of his crew parachuted from the plane. Despite their efforts to escape, none of the crew were ever recovered. He was declared killed in action over Norway. He was only 25 years old.
