Service Notes: As the pilot of a Martin B-26 Marauder, he flew a dangerous mission in support of Allied ground forces during the Battle of the Bulge. On December 26, 1944, the day after Christmas, his aircraft was hit by enemy fire over Belgium, causing the left wing to explode and the plane to plunge uncontrollably to the ground. He gave his life in service to his country, killed in action at the age of 23.
