Service Notes: He served with the 63rd Bombardment Squadron, 43rd Bombardment Group (Heavy) of the U.S. Army Air Forces. The 43rd flew heavy bombers in the Pacific, and in the final months of World War II its crews carried out dangerous missions against Japanese airfields, railroads, shipping, and other military targets. While serving with his unit near Okinawa, he was killed in action, giving his life during the final stages of the war against Japan. He was only 27 years old.
