Service Notes: He was 28 years old when engine trouble suddenly turned a routine flight into an emergency. With the aircraft unable to continue safely, an attempt was made to bring it down in a beet field about five miles west of Soledad, California. Tragically, the plane crashed during the attempted emergency landing, and he was killed.
