Service Notes: He served as a junior grade naval aviator, piloting a Helldiver during the campaign in the Philippines. He had already completed 29 combat missions, repeatedly taking to the skies in support of American operations against Japanese forces. On his 30th mission, his luck ran out, and he was killed in action. He was only 22 years old.
