Service Notes: He served as the pilot of a B-29 Superfortress during World War II. On a mission involving 112 B-29s assigned to bomb the Izumi Airfield and Tachiarai Airdromes on Kyushu, his aircraft was one of only two lost. During the attack, his bomber was rammed head-on by a Japanese kamikaze aircraft, and he was killed in action at just 23 years old.
