Service Notes: He served as a pilot of a B-24 Liberator, a heavy bomber. Despite heavy enemy fire and severe damage to his aircraft, he remained focused on the target and kept control of the plane as it lost altitude. His courage and determination allowed several members of his crew to parachute to safety before he was killed in action over Austria at the age of 20.
